Essential Oil Benefits - Sweet Orange

🌈 'What's Your Flavour' 🌈 Today marks the start of my 'Smelling Sweet' Series.
We're facing some really trying times, so I wanted to share some of the benefits different scents (including some treats🍨) can really help, like it did for me.
Here comes the science bit (in 3 simple parts):
💎 When you smell something, it generates a signal in a certain part of our brain called the Limbic System.
💎 The limbic system deals with our emotions, memory and feelings.
💎 This is why, certain scents can affect our moods, trigger a memory or help reduce certain unhealthy symptoms.
Each scent in this series has been used for centuries (way before medicinal drugs) and have been proven to tackle things like stress, anxiety, fight bacteria, promote weight loss and more. This week we're looking at: Sweet Orange.
Series Origin: I've been using essential oils for the last 3 years battling my own anxiety, depression, stress. It helped me so much (and still does) that I wanted to share some tried & tested scents.

🧡 Sweet Orange Oil 🧡 aka Citrus Sinensis

This essential oil is cold pressed from the peel of fresh oranges, extracting the compounds, scent, flavour & essence. The scent in particular, has a great many health benefits, including:

🍊 Promoting mental clarity, uplifting your mood
🍊 Reduces stress & nervous tension
🍊 Reduces fatigue

It's also been proven to be really good for your stomach area:

🍊 A great anti-inflammatory
🍊 Good for healthh digestion & circulation
🍊 Reduces stomach upset, cramps and pains

As well as scent, it's got a beautiful sweet cirtus flavour, so this is also used a lot in food flavouring - think Jaffa cakes (Jaffa is a type of Sweet Orange tree). Here's a simple and great recipe, using sweet oranges, perfect for sunny weather!

 Vegan Orange Creamsicle Pops

- Ingredients -

1- Full-Fat Coconut Milk
2- Navel Oranges
3- Orange Zest
4- Maple Syrup or Agave Nectar
5- Vanilla Extract
6- Sea Salt

- Method -

STEP 1 – Place all the ingredients in a blender (except the zest) and blend for 15-20 seconds until smooth. Add the zest and pulse 2-4 times. If you don’t want small flecks of zest in the popsicles, you can add it in with all ingredients

STEP 2 – Pour the mixture into a 6-Piece Popsicle Mold, leaving about 1/4″ of room on top. Place the sticks in the mixture and place in freezer for 4-6 hours. Enjoy!
